Plan a Fun and Memorable Baby Shower

Baby Showers are fun, both planning them and just attending as a guest. If you are planning a baby shower and want some ideas that may be a little different, you are only limited by your imagination. Use the ideas below or use them as a springboard to come up with your own fun ideas.

If the expectant parents have registered at a store's baby gift registry, this will help guests to select gifts but don't feel that you are restricted to what is on that list. It isn't unusual for there to be items that the parents didn't even think of. This is especially true with small, everyday use items. Including such items in a baby shower gift basket is a great way to give them to the expectant parents. They will be very much appreciated and the basket can be put together in a very clever way, making it very special. A bath time basket is a very thoughtful way to give items that will be used every day. Choose a nice basket that can be use to hold everything needed for baby's bath each time and put all the items needed in it. This can include baby oil, baby bath soap, powder, baby wash cloths and hooded towels, etc. A bath toy, such as a rubber ducky, will add a nice decorative touch. Tie a big ribbon bow on the handle and you have a beautiful gift to present to the mother and father to be.

A baby shower wouldn't be complete without games. Though there are many fun games for baby showers, it is nice to be able to surprise guests with something different. This is a game that mothers can relate to and those who are not yet mothers can laugh at – for now. To prepare for this game, get about 6 different candy bars, such as Snickers, Mars, Milky Way, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bar and 3 Musketeers. The kind of candy bars you choose is up to you and most will work for this just fine. You will also need a disposable diaper for each candy bar you are using. Unwrap each candy bar and place it in the center of a diaper. Next, you want the candy bars to melt so they are very soft and gooey. You can place them in a very warm place to do this. In the summer, an hour or two in the back window of your car works great. After they are melted, fold up the diaper and squish the candy bar so it is mushy. For the game, pass the diapers around so all the guests can look at each of them. Then have the guests try to identify the kind of candy bar in each one. A prize can be given to the person who had to most correct answers.

A nice way to end the baby shower is to give wishes for the baby. A nice way to do this is to give each guest a candle and have them stand or sit on a circle with the guest of honor in the center. As the hostess, light your candle first and make a wish for the baby as you light the first guest's candle. As each guest light the next person's candle, a wish is made for the baby until the last guest's candle is lit. That guest then lights the mother-to-be's candle and makes a wish. This completes the wish circle. And completes a memorable baby shower.
